"Forgotten" (version 6)
by Ed f.l. Babb
---------------

This piece was done specifically for the cover of Igubu ZerO #4 which gets released in June. None of my comics will be in the anthology but Avatars of the Funk will still feature (a comic idea created by a fiend and I). The art will be done by Christine King, story by Tom McNally.
My next comic (Avatars of the Funk: The Misunderstood Adventures of Edbot and Roz) will be published in Igubu ZerO #3 (released on the 28th of feb at Narcisse, Langham house in Long street, Cape Town). My older piece, "New Age Slave", is a poster for the launch.

I think this will be the last Dr. Otto image i do for a while... i personally feel ive exhausted the character. Dont think its the death of otto; he may return, but not anytime soon.

The otto series (which i started back in 2000) could be regarded as a constant evolution towards one final piece; this one. There was no plan or ultimate vision, this is just how it turns out.
This piece uses elements from several otto pieces that ive done and combines them into one image. For instance: the background is a highly modified version of the background from "Brother" ( [link] ), the planets are edted versions of the moon found in the Igubu Zero 3 poster ( "New Age Slave" - [link] ) and the figure, otto is combination of the character from "Brother" and a piece i never released on DA called "Remember Me". There are several other piece which remain unsubmitted.

The work is photoshop (yes, no 3d was used) combined with handdrawn elements and self-made textures. I also have a wacom Graphire. (very handy tools if you enjoy painting without paint)

Ive found that when i work in photoshop a lot of my emotion gets poured into my art (even though it may not be visible). The otto series has helped me to purge a lot of negativity and anger. I consider this piece rather sad and lonely; hopefully there are happier things to come.

thank you, and enjoy

another awesome revision. perhaps a little too overworked? i felt that the one you got daily favs for was the strongest, most balanced version.

can't wait to see what you do next.

I'm not sure why, but the character looks a just a little bit too menacing, and just a little bit too alien in this version. I have to agree with paroxysm on that. However, this does still kick some serious ass. The city in the background, for one thing, is killer.

Love the balance of colour. Adds alot of depth and story. Only thing I dont like are the twinkly little stars! But otherwise another great artwork! 3WC should have a formal exhib sometime soon... or not. i dunno where its going at this point in time... ;) (Wink) keep up the good work!

Another great piece. I really love this kind of tragic fate of the future world in your sci-fi pictures. Great work; and fav!:D (Big Grin)
